About Dragobobs

From Croatian roots to Midwest grills, DRAGOBOBS has always been about family and food done right.

Some recipes fade away with time. Others become tradition.

Our story begins in the small Chicago neighborhood of Hegewisch in the early 1980s. In 1983, Drago and Zorica introduced their homemade pork shish-ka-bob at the Centennial Hegewisch Fest. What started as a festival novelty quickly turned into backyard grilling for family and friends. Before long, people kept coming back asking for more – and a tradition was born.

So where did the name DRAGOBOBS come from?

Many people assume there was a partner named “Bob,” but that’s not the case. Customers kept asking Drago for his famous kabobs – “Drago’s kabobs.” Over time, the name stuck and naturally evolved into DRAGOBOBS.

While the original physical location remains in Hegewisch, the Dragobobs family and recipe eventually moved on from where it all began. In 2018, we made our new home in Cedar Lake, Indiana – where all the magic now happens – but the recipe and the approach have not changed.

Our focus is simple: quality ingredients, real marinades, and no shortcuts.

Our products are prepared and seasoned the way they’re meant to be. Whether it’s pork, chicken, or sirloin kabobs, everything we make is built with one goal in mind—food that tastes like it came straight off a backyard grill at a family gathering.

But DRAGOBOBS isn’t just pork kabobs anymore.

Over the years we’ve expanded the lineup to include fresh marinated wings, seasoned bacon, ribs, sausage, and other grill-ready favorites that keep showing up at cookouts across the region and country!

We’re a small family operation—and that’s exactly how we like it. Because when food is made by people who truly care about it, you can taste the difference.

So fire up the grill, invite some friends over, and enjoy the kind of food that doesn’t need fancy words—just a hot grill and a good appetite – come Get ShishFaced with us

The Story Behind Our Logo

Our logo is rooted in the same place our story began—family heritage.

Drago and Zorica immigrated from Croatia to the United States in the 1970s, bringing with them their traditions, work ethic, and love of good food. When it came time to create the DRAGOBOBS logo, we wanted something that honored those roots.

The design is inspired by the traditional shield from the Croatia coat of arms, known for its iconic red-and-white checkerboard pattern. We removed the crown from the top of the shield and rotated the shape to create the letter “D”—representing Drago and DRAGOBOBS.

From there, we adjusted the colors to match our brand while keeping the recognizable checkerboard pattern that connects back to our heritage.

Today, the logo represents more than just a name—it’s a symbol of where we came from, the family behind the recipe, and the traditions that continue every time someone fires up the grill.
